HTC has announced that its Viveport VR app store, and its Viveport Infinity subscription service will be coming to Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) from June 5. Those with WMR headsets will be able to download any compatible titles from the Viveport store from that date. Of the 600 titles available through the Infinity subscription service, over a third are compatible with WMR headsets. According to HTC, WMR headsets from Acer, HP, Asus, Dell, Lenovo, and Samsung are all compatible.
Discussing the development, Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport, said:
“This summer, Viveport is expanding to embrace all major PC VR devices including the HTC Vive family, Oculus Rift and Oculus Rift S and soon Windows Mixed Reality and the Valve Index. Viveport Infinity offers all members unparalleled value and choice when it comes to experiencing and discovering VR content. In addition, we’re connecting Viveport developers to an increased audience pool to monetize their content.”
Microsoft’s Director of Mixed Reality, Dan Newell, was also positive about the development claiming that the accessible cost of Viveport Infinity strengthens the VR ecosystem for consumers and developers.
WMR device owners that sign up to Viveport Infinity will have the same access to exclusive membership benefits as other subscribers, such as premium content of Viveport Video, monthly coupons, weekend deals, and free title giveaways. Subscribers will also gain access to brand new games each month as HTC continually expands its catalogue.
