There has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming launch of Verizon"s new 4G phones. While several devices are expected, the HTC device will be called the "Thunderbolt" and will harness the new LTE network that Verizon just launched last month. Also leaked is a new phone for AT&T called the Inspire 4G, although it is not clear what the context of 4G means. Is it true LTE or is it the same "4G" that T-Mobile is currently branding which is really HSPA+?
The leak came from an advertisement in Rolling Stone magazine that was posted by Android Central. The leak comes at an interesting time as Verizon is set to announce its new 4G phones on Thursday and no word has been made by AT&T with regards to its "4G" phone but both will most likely be announced sometime this week.
While we know that LTE and HSPA+ are not true "4G" as per the definition, so you can save yourself the few keystrokes in the comments, LTE does represent the next wave of mobile data services for Verizon and AT&T.
