Earlier today, HTC officially introduced the high-end U11+, but that"s not the only thing HTC is launching today. The company also unveiled a mid-range smartphone -- the U11 Life -- which is basically a trimmed down budget-friendly version of the HTC U11.
HTC will be selling the U11 Life in two different versions depending on your location. In North America, the U11 Life will come with Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Edge Sense on top of it with the Oreo update promised to arrive by the end of November. The rest of the world will get the Android One device with Android 8.0 Oreo running out of the box. This version is guaranteed to get security updates for three years.
As far as the internals are concerned, both versions ship with identical specifications. There"s a 5.2-inch Super LCD display sporting a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass protection, a fingerprint sensor and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. In the United States, the handset will be equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, plus a microSD card support for expansion. Other global markets will get the Android One variant featuring 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
Furthermore, there"s a 16MP main camera with Phase Detection, f/2.0 aperture, and 4K video recording as well as a 16MP front-facing camera. The phone is powered by a 2,600 mAh battery and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, submersible in up to 1m of water for up to 30 minutes.
The handset"s dimensions are 149.09 x 72.9 x 8.1 mm, and it weighs 142g. The connectivity options include USB-C 2.0, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi - 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5GHz), NFC. Chromecast, DLNA, and Miracast support.
HTC will sell the unlocked version on its website for $349. T-Mobile will be the exclusive carrier partner in the United States with sales commencing from tomorrow, November 3rd. Color options include Sapphire Blue and Brilliant Black.
