HTC unveils the Desire 820

HTC, despite dealing with not-so-great financial figures this year, announced its mid-range flagship phone at IFA 2014 as expected. The device is the second one to pack a 64-bit processor under the hood after the budget-friendly Desire 510.

Apart from its distinctive processor, the smartphone will sport 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, with microSD support up to 128 GB.

For multimedia purposes, the device will come with a 5.5-inch 720p display and HTC"s own Boomsound speakers. For the selfie lovers, the Desire 820 will offer a 8 MP front camera, allowing for high quality images. To add more, the 13-megapixel rear camera will support continuous shooting and rapid-fire photography.

HTC"s trademark Dot View case will also be compatible with the Desire 820.

However, the main selling point of the smartphone will be its processor, the 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615, which will allow its owners to enjoy the full benefits of “Android L”, the next iteration in Android OS that fully utilizes 64-bit processors.

It is expected that the device will be available in markets by the end of September at an “affordable price”. The Desire 820 will come in a broad range of colors: Marble White, Tuxedo Grey, Santorini White, Milky-way Grey , Tangerine White, Saffron Grey, Flamingo Grey, Blue Mist, and Monarch Orange.
