HTC's new $99 Deluxe Audio Strap for the Vive is apparently disintegrating after normal use

It was a little over a year ago when HTC revealed to the world its Vive VR headset. Although some time has passed since its initial release, the firm has announced a couple of accessories like the Vive Tracker and Vive Deluxe Audio Strap, that intend to make the experience better. With the Deluxe Audio Strap recently getting into the hands of consumers, it looks like their might be an issue with the quality of the product.

Apparently, the more premium head strap is suffering from premature deterioration when being put through mild use. In the video that can be seen above, there is a problem with the strap dissolving. This appears to occur when the strap is exposed to moisture, which could be from when folks are sweating while using the accessory. Now, this is not something to take lightly, considering that this a $99 product and it isn"t being abused.

HTC has issued a statement that it is "aware of the report regarding the foam on the Deluxe Audio Headstrap. We are investigating, and when we have more information will let you know." For now, if you own the new accessory, it would seem that you should use it with extreme care. Currently, the item seems to be sold out on the HTC Vive accessories page.
