Today at an event in Munich, Huawei"s main attraction was the Mate 30 series of smartphones. But the company also announced a new iteration of its Watch GT, the Watch GT 2. You might recall that the original model was built for multiple weeks of battery life, but it also made some compromises to do it.
Many of those compromises have been fixed in the new model. You"ll now be able to store up to 500 songs on the Watch GT 2 for music playback, it supports an always-on display, and you can take phone calls with the built-in microphone and speakers. And of course, it supports Bluetooth headphones.
According to Huawei, the Watch GT 2 is still designed to get up to 14 days of battery life. For music playback, you"ll only get 24 hours, and for talking on the phone over Bluetooth, you"ll get 10 hours.
There are two models this time around. The larger one is the 46mm one, packing a 1.39-inch OLED display with 1,000-nit brightness. It uses 3D glass with a Uni-Piece Crystal-Bezel Design.
The smaller one is 42mm with a 9.4mm thin body. This one is meant to be lightweight, weighing in at just 29g.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 will be available in October, priced at €229 and €249 for the 42mm and 46mm models, respectively.
