Huawei FreeBuds 4 with Bluetooth 5.2 and ANC gets a global release



At today"s event, Huawei announced a flurry of devices including the P50 smartphone, MatePad Pro tablet, and Watch 3 Series. The company also used this occasion to roll out its FreeBuds 4 to the global market. As per Huawei, these wireless buds come with active noise cancellation (ANC), touch controls, wear detection, and ergonomic design.

The FreeBuds 4 are quite light with each earpiece weighing in at just over 4 grams. These are rated IPX4 for splash resistance. Each earpiece features a 14.3 mm driver tuned for delivering deep bass. You also get the ANC feature made possible by three onboard microphones.

To save you from the hassle of frequently reaching for your phone, the FreeBuds 4 comes with gesture-based touch controls. For instance, you can answer a call, skip a song, or trigger voice assistant by simply tapping twice on your earbud. Swiping up and down lets you control volume. Lastly, the long press toggles noise cancellation feature.

These earbuds use power-efficient Bluetooth 5.2 to connect to your phones, tablets, and computers. You can even hook them up to two devices simultaneously. The FreeBuds 4 clock in low latency for mobile gaming. As per the data provided by Huawei, these earbuds have 90 ms latency on HarmonyOS smartphones and 150 ms on EMUI handsets.

Each FreeBuds 4 earpiece holds a 30 mAh battery, which is enough to last four hours on a single charge with ANC disabled. The carry case houses a 410 mAh battery that offers 22 hours of playback (ANC disabled).

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 are up for pre-order in Europe with shipping to commence on June 21. In the UK, these are priced at £120. To sweeten the deal, Huawei is throwing in a free Band 4 Pro, which usually costs £70.
