Huawei quietly released a new model of its MateBook E last month, but only in China. What makes the 2019 model particularly different though is that this is a Windows on ARM PC, making it the third device to be powered by a Snapdragon 850 chipset, along with the Lenovo Yoga C630 and Samsung Galaxy Book2.
Other than the new chipset, there"s not a lot that"s different. It still has a 12-inch 1440p display, it still comes with 4GB or 8GB RAM, and it has up to 512GB. It"s a tablet form factor with an attachable keyboard.
The price of the device is ¥3,999 (~$595) for the model with 4GB RAM and a 128GB SSD. This is considerably cheaper than previous models of the device, and that"s something that Qualcomm is aiming for with the Snapdragon 850. With the Snapdragon 8cx on the way, the company wants the 850 to represent the mid-range.
Microsoft didn"t have one on display at its Windows on ARM booth at Build, but hopefully it will show up in the U.S. soon.
