Huawei has announced the launch of the USG6000E series, an AI-based firewall aimed at protecting enterprises. The firm claims that the product is the industry’s first AI-based firewall and it operates by detecting threats and collaborating with the cloud to provide “intelligent network border protection”.
Discussing the firm’s new product, Denzel Song, General Manager of Huawei Network Security Domain, said:
“Huawei has launched the new generation of AI-based firewall, which is the upgrade of the security enforcer in Huawei SDSec Solution. The AI-based firewall solves problems such as time-consuming threat detection and coarse granularity of traditional threat-detection technologies. The introduction of AI technology and virtualization architecture enables next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) to intelligentize enterprise border protection. The AI-based firewall makes Huawei SDSec Solution realize dynamic collaboration between software-defined security products through open architecture, and implement intelligent collaboration between on-cloud and off-cloud services through centralized intelligence and edge intelligence, to greatly enhance enterprise network immunity.”
The firm said that the USG6000E series is aimed at "small and medium-sized enterprise networks for lightweight threat prevention". It said that the product is the “world’s first 1 U high firewall” and has a throughput of 100Gbit/s for the processing of small packets. It also said the interface integration is the highest in the industry as it supports the 100GE, 40GE, 10GE, and GE interface modules at the same time.
Huawei has been suffering a bit over the last year or as it has faced criticism from governments. The U.S. Government has, for example, introduced a law that forbids the use of Huawei products by government agencies over security concerns. Meanwhile, Australia stopped the firm from selling 5G technology in the country citing security issues. Firms may want to take these things into consideration before securing their own networks with Huawei"s tech.
