At the end of last week, we reported that some users were experiencing a green tint on their new Huawei Mate 20 Pro devices. Now, Huawei Finland has announced that customers in the country will be able to get a replacement device if they experience the issue. Unfortunately, the offer is only available in Finland at the time of writing but the firm could expand the service to the rest of the world.

Suomi Mobiili, a Finnish-language technology news outlet contacted Huawei for comment, Elina Takala, Huawei’s Director of Marketing and Communications Finland responded with the following statement:

“We have been investigating for a long time why a small number of phones have been experiencing the issue. In Finland, consumers can get a new phone without charge if they have a faulty display.”

A user of the Huawei Community U.K. forum also said they visited their mobile provider’s support branch and it said that it would offer replacements to anyone who complained about the issue. The user also stated that if you’re offered a repair you should decline this and ask for a new device that works properly and that you’re within your rights to do so.

Although we only have examples from the U.K. and Finland, it may be worth contacting Huawei wherever you may be in the world if you experience this issue as there is a good chance that you’ll be able to sort out a replacement device.
