Following the path that Samsung laid out some time ago, various other brands such as Xiaomi are jumping on the curved display bandwagon. The latest of the bunch is Huawei, which is reportedly going to sport a dual curved display on the Mate 9 Pro - the "Pro" variation on the Mate 9 handset.
Complementing the dual-curved edges on the 5.9" display is the 1440p QHD resolution which should give the device a total pixel density of 497 PPI - a fairly high number that sits above the approximate 400 PPI you get on phones with a 1080p resolution and a 5.5" display.
Outside of the changes to the display, however, nothing should differ in terms of specs between the Huawei Mate 9 proper and Huawei Mate 9 Pro. This means the device is expected to have the same in-house Kirin 960 SoC, as well as:
- 4 (or possibly 6) GB of RAM
- 64 GB storage, going as high as 256 GB
- Dual rear camera setup
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro appears to quite closely resemble Samsung"s Edge devices, especially with the prominent physical home button.
The new devices are expected to be announced at Huawei"s November 3rd conference which is just under two weeks away.
