Huawei P30 series teased for March 26 reveal in Paris, major zoom upgrade expected

While most smartphone companies are gearing up to announce their next-generation flagship devices at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 next week, Huawei is holding out a bit. The Chinese tech giant will be unveiling its upcoming P30 series on March 26 in an event that is set to take place in Paris, France.

Huawei already confirmed earlier this month that it would be announcing the P20 successor in March, though no exact date was given at the time. The new teaser does not offer much information about the device in the way of specs and features, but the image accompanying it provides some sort of hint at a major upgrade to the phone"s camera.

The teaser photo, in particular, shows a perspective of the Eiffel Tower from a zoom lens with the caption "Rules were made to be rewritten." It"s likely that the P30 series will boast a camera with a significantly improved zoom capability.

In an interview with AndroidPIT in November 2018, Huawei’s Consumer Business President Walter Ji revealed that the company was expected to unveil a mobile device with a quad-camera setup equipped with 10x zoom in 2019, although there was no reference to the P30. Though slapping a quad-camera onto the back of the P30 would be a logical upgrade from its predecessor, if previously leaked renders of the phone are to be believed, it will boast only three cameras on its back. We"ll likely know more as we draw closer to the phone"s official announcement.
