Huawei launched the Watch GT 2 smartwatch in September last year that brought with it impressive battery life and an always-on display. The firm then announced a sportier, more affordable version of the device dubbed Watch GT 2e earlier this year. Now, a supposed successor to the Watch GT 2 – which could be called the Watch GT 2 Pro – has leaked.
The report from WinFuture suggests that the GT 2 Pro will majorly retain its predecessor’s design and specifications, while adding a much-welcomed wireless charging feature – something that we noted in our review of the Watch GT 2 as a good addition. The other features, such as the detailed sleep tracking are similar to its predecessor.
While the leaked images only show off the hardware, it is not clear what software optimizations will make it to the device’s LiteOS. It will also be interesting to see if the company’s recent partnership with TomTom brings turn-by-turn navigation. This feature coupled with the great battery life will successfully pit the device as a viable alternative to other Wear OS-powered watches.
As for other specifications, the Watch GT 2 Pro – just like the Watch GT 2 – is expected to sport a 1.39-inch AMOLED display in a 46mm case. The battery life is reportedly still rated to be an impressive 14 days. The watch is also expected to come with 4GB of internal storage.
The report also states that the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is slated for launch in Germany in the “next few weeks” and will retail for €280, up from the €249 price tag.
