Huawei recently announced its latest handsets, namely the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20X, and Porsche Design Mate 20 RS. Unfortunately, none of the devices will be sold in the United States.
After making so much progress over the years to get its handsets to be sold at major retailers, the firm hit a huge roadblock at the beginning of the year when both AT&T and Verizon dropped support for what was supposed to be its first devices featured on U.S. wireless carriers, and Best Buy stopped selling its smartphones.
Many months later, it looks like it is still feeling the effects, with the company confirming that it will not be selling the smartphones in the U.S. The firm states:
"We are not planning to sell the Mate 20 Series in the US. While international variants of the Mate 20 Series may be available on some US online retail sites, we encourage individuals to carefully read the details about the warranty and network compatibility before purchasing."
There is a tiny silver lining to the story, as it will be bringing its Watch GT to the U.S. market in the future, but pricing and availability have not yet been detailed. So much for being cheeky Huawei.
