Huawei introduced its latest Gentle Monster smartglasses recently, and we"ve got our hands on a pair. To be honest, I"ve never reviewed smartglasses before, and as always, it excites me to try a new category of technology. As you"d probably guess, when I unboxed these, I didn"t even know where to start, but that"s OK, because most people buying these have never had smartglasses before either.
They come in a variety of styles, including Smart Myma and Smart Lang, which are both sunglasses, and Smart Havana and Smart Kubo. The latter two are more traditional glasses. Huawei sent me Smart Lang, so the sunglasses aspect of it is a bit strange to me. This feels like something that I"d want to wear more often during the day.
The primary use case for these smartglasses is listening to music. There are speakers in the arms, and they pair to your device through Bluetooth, working with iOS or Android. I wasn"t able to pair it with my iPhone though, because the app isn"t available in the U.S. It also supports gestures for controlling it, or for calling your device"s smart assistant.
