Huawei's laptops disappear from the Microsoft Store

It has not been a good week for Huawei. Over the weekend, it was reported that Google suspended the company"s Google Play licenses, completely disrupting Huawei"s smartphone business, because the firm has been added to the U.S. Department of Commerce"s "Entity List". Later, it was found that other American companies opted to halt business with Huawei, such as Intel, Qualcomm, and Broadcom.

It"s unclear if Microsoft has discontinued selling Windows 10 licenses to the Chinese firm, but all traces of MateBooks have been removed from the Microsoft Store. If you were planning on buying the MateBook X Pro - which we thought was a lovely device when we reviewed it - you"re too late to get it online. According to The Verge, some physical stores are selling the PC if they still have it in stock though.

Huawei"s Mate 20 Pro was also one of the devices supported by Google"s Android Q beta, and that has also been removed from Google"s website.

Just a couple of months ago, Huawei did say that it has its own operating systems in case Google and Microsoft don"t work out, apparently seeing the writing on the wall with the current U.S. administration. The company does make its own smartphone chips, but PCs are another story. Perhaps we"ll see a HiSilicon-powered Linux-based laptop at some point.
