It was a little over a month ago that Huawei teased an event scheduled for October. While many speculated that it would be for an upcoming Mate device, the firm today confirmed during its keynote that it would be announcing the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro next month.
Along with the confirmation of the upcoming devices, Huawei also gave an in-depth look at its latest SoC, the Kirin 970. It is the firm"s first "mobile AI computing platform" featuring a "dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU)". Huawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed during the event that both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro would be powered by the newly announced chip.
Furthermore, during the presentation, images of a near bezel-less device made an appearance on stage, giving us a possible glimpse of what to expect next month. Naturally, these could always just be mock ups but if the silhouette is any indication, the design directly challenges LG"s V30 and Samsung"s Galaxy Note8. With a little less than two months to go, Huawei is generating quite a bit of buzz, building anticipation, promising that it will be "worth waiting for".
