Over the last couple of months, it"s been reported that Huawei"s Mate 10 Pro would make it;s way to the United States via AT&T. That ended up not being the case though, but the firm did announce U.S. availability today. Unfortunately, you"ll have to buy it unlocked for $799.
The Mate 10 series of handsets includes Huawei"s in-house Kirin 970 chipset, which includes a Neural Processing Unit, allowing it to compute complex tasks faster. This allows the camera to know what it"s looking at and adjust the settings accordingly. It also improves battery life, as it learns how you use the device. Microsoft even made a special Translator app for it.
"We’ve experienced unprecedented growth worldwide and are now bringing our award-winning products to the U.S.," said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. "Huawei is and has been in the U.S., and is part of a community of visionaries that strive to push boundaries and improve daily lives through technology. Our newest consumer solution, the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro, is the smartphone that U.S. consumers need and deserve."
You"ll be able to pre-order the Mate 10 Pro on February 4, with general availability on the 18th. It will cost $799, coming in Midnight Blue, Titanium Grey, and Mocha Brown, and it will work on all GSM networks, such as T-Mobile and AT&T.
Also coming to the United States is the Mate 10 Porsche Design, which will run you $1,225. It will be available from Best Buy, Amazon, and Microsoft. Huawei specifically said that the Mate 10 Pro will be on display at Best Buy, but didn"t specify if that will be coming to Amazon and Microsoft as well.
