Huawei's Mate 10 reportedly coming to AT&T in February

It"s been more than two months since Huawei announced the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro, and despite various leaks and rumors, there"s been little official news of either of them being sold in the United States. According to a report from The Information (via Engadget) though, the Mate 10 will be arriving on AT&T this February.

If true, and it would appear to be given the number of rumors around this, it would be the first major partnership that the OEM has made with a U.S. carrier. Huawei has previously stated that it wants to have a greater presence in the United States, and this would be a major step toward that goal. It already sells a number of devices here, such as its MateBook line of Windows 10 PCs, Android Wear smartwatches, and unlocked phones.

The Mate 10 is the company"s latest flagship handset, packing Huawei"s in-house Kirin 970 chipset. It contains a Neural Processing Unit, allowing for camera features that let the device know what it"s looking at and adjusting settings accordingly. It also promises better battery life, as the "AI" knows how you"re using the phone, and how to optimize for that.

Back in September, Huawei surpassed Apple as the second largest smartphone vendor. This news wasn"t entirely surprising, as Apple only plays at the flagship price point, and with moderately priced devices providing more and more value every year, we can expect more of those to be sold. Nevertheless, Huawei feels that it needs a United States presence if it wants to take on the massive American company.

There was no information about pricing in the report, but we"ll likely learn more soon.
