Alongside the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, Huawei today also took the wraps off its ginormous 7.12-inch phablet called the Mate 20X. The 20X retains most of the specifications of the regular Mate 20, but improves on them in a few key areas.
The most obvious of these is, of course, the larger display size, making it more tablet than phone. It is an OLED panel, and sports a Full HD+ resolution, with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The larger dimensions also mean Huawei was able to fit in a bigger, 5,000mAh battery into the 20X, compared to the 4,000mAh of the Mate 20. The firm claims the phone is 30% more power efficient.
Given its tablet-like features, Huawei has made some changes to the software so that using the 20X in landscape mode will deliver a slightly more tablet-like UI. It also supports pen input though Huawei"s M Pen, with smart features like handwriting to text making the cut as well.
Apart from this, the Mate 20X is pretty much the same phone as its smaller sibling, with a Kirin 980 at its heart. The camera setup is also mimicked, with a 40MP main shooter paired with an 8MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 20MP wide-angle lens.
The 6GB + 128GB variant of the Mate 20X will be available in Europe for $899 from October 26.
