Today, Huawei announced that its wearable lineup has grown 282.2% year-over-year, fueled by over two million units sold of its Watch GT smartwatch. Its wearable lineup as a whole sold over five million units. The firm says that it"s now one of the top three wearable vendors, a category where Apple still sits at number one.
The big selling point of the Watch GT was its weeks of battery life. It runs on Huawei"s in-house Lite OS, and it includes features like Truseen 3.0 for tracking your heart rate for a full 24 hours, and Trusleep 2.0 which not only tracks your sleep, but also offers insights on how to get better sleep.
Huawei says that it"s fifth on the list of global investors in research and development, and it"s the only Chinese firm that"s even in the top 10. Because of this, the company anticipates continued growth in the wearable market.
We reviewed the Huawei Watch GT back in February, but the following month, the firm also introduced the 46mm Active Edition and the 42mm Elegant Edition.
