The team at Humble Bundle started the trend of offering games for a limited time on the "pay what you want model". So far the six previous Humble Indie Bundles have generated millions in revenue that are shared by various game developers. A few weeks ago, the same team launched the Humble THQ Bundle, which had the same business model but offered major AAA games from publisher THQ. It ended up raising over $5 million.
This week, the team launched their latest effort, Humble Indie Bundle 7 with a new set of games, and one movie dedicated to following the industry, to get on the cheap or as much as you can afford.
According to the site:
Pay-what-you-want and get The Binding of Isaac (and its DLC, Wrath of the Lamb), Closure, Shank 2, Snapshot, and Indie Game: The Movie! And if you pay over the average, you’ll also get Dungeon Defenders (and its DLC) and Legend of Grimrock!
Normally buying all of these games and the movie together will cost about $140. The games are all DRM free and come in PC, Mac and Linux flavors. Indeed this Humble Indie Bundle also represents the Linux debut for most of these games and the Mac debut for two of them.
Buyers of Humble Indie Bundle 7 also get Steam keys and many of the game"s soundtracks as well. As with the previous Humble Indie Bundle events you can also choose to donate money to two charities, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child"s Play. Humble Indie Bundle 7 will end 13 days from now and has already raised over $1 million since launching on Wednesday.
