Hurricane Sandy makes Google delay Monday's NYC press event

Google"s plans to hold a major press event in New York City on Monday has now taken a back seat to an even bigger event, and it"s not a good one. Hurricane Sandy, current a level 1 storm, is threatening the entire northeast coast of the US with lots of rain, wind and possible snow.

As a result of the weather and the effects that are expected to be created by Sandy, Engadget reports that Google has informed media outlets that they have now cancelled their plans to hold their New York City press event on Monday. No new day for the press conference has been announced.

As we previously reported, Google was expected to reveal a number of new hardware projects, all under the company"s Nexus brand, at Monday"s NYC event. Rumors claim that Google would have revealed a 32 GB version of its previously launched Nexus 7 tablet by Asus, along with a 10 inch tablet made by Samsung. Rumors also state that Google had plans to announced an LG-made Nexus 4 smartphone. Both the smartphone and the 10 inch tablet were rumored to have Android 4.2 running things inside.
