IBM, S3 (not that one) get together

Big blue is expected to release tomorrow the Power NP 2G, which it will claim can deliver an astonishing two gigabits per second, and an even bigger number of Mpps – 5.6 million packets.

This chip is aimed at networking apps including security, voice apps, load balancing and encryption on a heap of hardware including routers, firewalls, servers and base stations, IBM is expected to say.

And IBM and Silicon & Software Systems (S3), will make an app reference board for the network processor, which will be sold by both companies.
