If the render above is any indication, it appears that LG will be sticking to the safe route this go-around, offering a V20 successor that looks nearly identical to its other flagship, the G6.
This doesn"t really come as a surprise, as the firm is recovering from last year"s failed experiment, the G5. Although the idea of a handset that can accept modular accessories was well-received during Mobile World Congress, it failed when it came to execution, arriving with a mediocre build quality and uninspired accessories, leading LG to abandon the project completely.
Although LG isn"t quite selling the volumes like Samsung, the device has still been well-received by critics, which is why it makes complete sense for it to rely on the design for its other models, like the recently introduced mid-range Q-series.
If the V30 render above is accurate, there are many similarities to the G6, but there are also some slight differences. If you look closely at the rendered clip above, you can see that the handset offers slight curves around the edges of the display. This doesn"t come as a surprise, as it was rumored that the V30 could arrive with a curved display.
We will still have to wait a couple months for the official announcement which is expected to happen at IFA Berlin, but one thing is for certain: LG looks to be abandoning what made the V-series so special and different, which could be a good or bad thing.
