We didn"t really need more proof that Twitter wants to eradicate third-party applications and services, but here"s more anyway. Web service IFTTT is removing all Twitter triggers that allow tweets to be pushed to services such as App.net, Google+, and even things like Evernote and Pocket. IFTTT will still allow things such as thanking your new followers using tweets, but no triggers that start with Twitter content will remain.
In an Email to users, CEO Linden Tibetts said,
In recent weeks, Twitter announced policy changes* that will affect how applications and users like yourself can interact with Twitter"s data. As a result of these changes, on September 27th we will be removing all Twitter Triggers, disabling your ability to push tweets to places like email, Evernote and Facebook. All Personal and Shared Recipes using a Twitter Trigger will also be removed. Recipes using Twitter Actions and your ability to post new tweets via IFTTT will continue to work just fine.
The newest Twitter third-party app policy states that applications or services can not upload Twitter Content to a "cloud based service", which is the reason IFTTT is forced to remove Twitter triggers.
Editor note: This is a huge disappointment to me as I currently send tweets I favourite to Pocket using a trigger, this allows me to easily catch up with articles at a later point.
