Microsoft is back at it again with its Imagine Cup 2012 challenges and this time around is targeting in on Kinect and Windows 8. These two platforms offer a wide range of flexibility and the challenges will test the contestants to step outside the box and use innovative and unique ways to solve challenges that face us everyday.
The Kinect challenge will bring the popular platform back to the center of the Imagine Cup experience. Posted below is an excerpt from the Imagine Cup blog:
The Kinect Fun Labs Challenge brings Imagine Cup into the living room and expands the role of Kinect in competition, inviting you to think about entertainment with a social conscience and solve the world’s toughest problems using Kinect technology for the Xbox 360 console and Xbox LIVE – an Imagine Cup first!
The other aspect of the challenge relates to Microsoft"s upcoming Windows 8 platform. This challenge will invoke the participants to use Windows 8 and create a Metro style app to solve real world problems. The Image Cup blog states:
The Imagine Cup Windows Metro Style App Challenge will test your team’s ability to prototype a Metro style app that takes advantage of Windows 8 features and Metro design styles to deliver an experience that solves one of the world’s toughest problems. We’re bringing the platform – you bring the ideas!
Imagine Cup has always been about bringing new ideas to solve problems that affect our entire population. The innovative solutions these challenges derive show the true power of students who focus their efforts on global problems when paired with Microsoft products. 2012 offers many new challenges, new opportunities but most importantly the ability to tackle pandemic problems at the micro scale.
