As Ubisoft had promised, today"s Ubisoft Forward event served as the stage to re-reveal Immortals: Fenyx Rising, the game formerly announced as Gods and Monsters. Ubisoft"s Québec studio has done quite a bit of work on the game since its initial unveil and it looks very different than what we saw in the first trailer, which is the reason the company decided to change the game"s title.
In Immortals: Fenyx Rising, players take the role of Fenyx, a Greek warrior that washes ashore on a mysterious island. It"s an open-world action-adventure game, and the resemblances to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild"s art style and world design are easy to spot. The game is heavily based on Greek mythology, with Fenyx taking the role of helping various Greek gods throughout different regions of the world, with the end goal of defeating Typhon, the "deadliest titan in mythology". The story is narrated by Prometheus and Zeus.
The main character is extensively customizable, with some options available from the get-go, and more being unlocked as you play. These options include cosmetic items, weapons, and magical abilities. One of these abilities is the wings of Daedealus, which let players glide and fly across the game"s open world - again, bearing some resemblance to the glider in Breath of the Wild. Other aspects of the game are also well-known from those games, such as puzzle-solving, and fast-paced fights against a variety of enemies.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising has also been given a release of December 3. It"s coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC via Uplay and the Epic Games Store. However, next-generation consoles will get the game later. You can watch the official reveal trailer here, though the video above provides a better look at the game.
