Sucker Punch confirmed last night inFamous, their exclusive third person sandbox game for the Playstation 3 has gone gold. The news broke online via the developer"s Twitter account reports VG247, which simply read:
"One word: GOLD."
Originally announced at Sony"s E3 press conference in July 2007, inFamous combines genres from games seen prior such as the superhero MMO "City of Heroes" and Rockstar"s "Grand Theft Auto" series with the player making choices throughout the game to be a hero or antihero.
In inFamous the player takes control of Cole McGrath, a bike messenger who lives in the fictional city Empire City. Cole is delivering a package which explodes and rips apart the city, at the centre of the disaster Cole is the only survivor who finds himself with new electrical powers. Cole passes into unconsciousness for two weeks and when he wakes up, finds Empire City in complete chaos with gangs taking over and the government have quarantined the city. A local disk jockey broadcasts his voice to the other survivors, accusing Cole of being the cause of the incident and setting the remaining population against him. Cole must survive and the player has the choice to help the city or have Cole fend for himself.
Earlier this week Sucker Punch announced the game"s release had been brought forward a week earlier to May 26th. The game was previously set to release in June. An international date has not been announced yet.
