Infinity Blade 2 for iOS announced

In December 2010, Epic Games and its subsidiary Chair Entertainment released Infinity Blade for Apple"s iOS family of devices. It was the first mobile game that used Epic"s Unreal Engine 3 and was both a critical and sales hit. Today during Apple"s iPhone press conference Epic and Chair announced plans to release Infinity Blade 2.

The sequel will be released via Apple"s App Store on December 1, just under a year after the release of the original game. The game will also support iCloud which will allow gamers to save games and profiles via Apple"s cloud-based storage service.

Epic"s press release for Infinity Blade 2 states:

Delving further into the story of this mysterious, timeless adventure, players will explore an evolving game world filled with new types of rewards and treasures as they battle scores of new powerful enemies and bosses. New fighting styles and weapon classes coupled with deep role-playing elements provide even greater game play variation. “Infinity Blade 2” also introduces gamers to new online features, such as Clash Mob, in which they’ll participate with fellow gamers in unique "massively social" challenges to unlock rare weapons and exclusive items.

In addition, Epic announced that it has released Infinity Blade: Awakening, an ebook fantasy by author Brandon Sanderson that expands on the back story of the Infinity Blade world. The novella can be purchased and downloaded now for $2.99 on Apple" iBooks store front. Pricing for Infinity Blade 2 has yet to be announced.
