Insanely fast 14GB/s PCIe 5.0 NVMe 2.0 SSDs could be an industry first release by ADATA

At the upcoming CES 2022, ADATA plans to show off its next-gen NVMe SSDs which will be based on the recently introduced PCIe 5.0 interface. These new SSDs, ADATA says, will support the latest NVMe 2.0 standard. There will be a couple of such prototype PCIe 5.0 NVMe samples that the firm will demonstrate at the show. They are "Project Nighthawk" and "Project Blackbird".

While both the SSD models will be able to read at speeds of up to 14GB/s, the Nighthawk variant is said to feature faster writes at up to 12GB/s compared to Blackbird"s 10GB/s.

With such NVMe drives, ADATA hopes to bring the industry-first PCIe 5.0 SSD solutions to the market. Though the firm isn"t the first in the market to talk about such prototypes as earlier in the year, Kioxia said that it was working on even faster 15GB/s NVMe solutions.

The program ADATA will organize is called "Dawn of a New Xtreme" and alongside the two PCIe 5.0 SSDs, the firm will also show its CASTER RGB DDR5-7200 DRAM module. When this is out, it will be the fastest consumer DDR5 memory module available.

The firm plans to launch even faster DDR5 modules capable of running at 12,600MT/s sometime in the future.
