Instagram app for Windows 10 Mobile removed from the Microsoft Store

Instagram seems to have abandoned the Windows 10 Mobile platform after the support for the app"s mobile version has been removed from the Microsoft Store.

A quick visit to Microsoft"s online marketplace will show that only the PC version of Instagram is available for download, with a short notice at the bottom of the download button saying the "app does not work on your device."

It remains unclear why Instagram is no longer available on Windows 10 Mobile as neither its parent company, Facebook, nor the service itself released an official statement on the matter. However, considering the growing list of apps that recently dropped out of the platform, it"s not hard to understand why Instagram followed suit.

The Instagram app for Windows 10 Mobile had had a number of updates over the past year. Last September, Instagram rolled out tons of new features to its app for both the Windows 10 PC and Mobile ecosystems, including the ability to use effects in Stories and respond to stories with photos, among others.

Prior to that, the photo and video-sharing service added the ability for users to send disappearing images, save photos on Windows 10 Mobile devices, and gain access to Instagram Live Videos.
