Instagram is now expanding Guides to everyone making it easier for users to find, curate, and share the products, places, and posts from their favorite accounts on Instagram.
The company introduced Guides in May this year with a focus on wellness, considering people would have appreciated content around one’s well-being amidst the pandemic. Some of the initial guides were from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Heads Together, a group focused on mental health, among others.
Guides is essentially a new tool to share and consume content on Instagram with a larger goal to give Instagram users a way to post longer-form content with a mix of photos and videos - instead of redirecting the audience outside of Instagram, to a blog post or a YouTube video.
It will also help users find recommended content from creators they follow. One can find Guides on a user profile and share them across Stories and in DMs. Product Guides may be featured in Instagram Shop allowing users to discover new products from people they may not already follow. When viewing a Guide, users will be able to see posts and videos that the creator has curated, paired with helpful tips and advice. They can tap on the image or video to view the original Instagram post.
