After announcing its higher-end 10th-gen Comet Lake-H processors for mobile a couple of days ago, Intel may be preparing to introduce the desktop counterpart Comet Lake-S lineup reportedly by the end of this month on April 30. This information comes from El Chapuzas Informatico who leaked the detail about a week ago.
Naturally, with an impending launch like this, a few marketing slides almost always seep out and Videocardz managed to get its hands on them that detail the names of the SKUs as well as the cores and Turbo speeds of the top-end i9, i7, and i5 models.
Although not much, they appear in line with the previously leaked complete Comet Lake-S desktop lineup with no apparent changes in place since then.
Being on 14nm for so long, Intel has really been able to tweak the process to their advantage that even its mobile processors are now capable of over 5GHz speeds.
With a 25% bump up in core count in the upcoming Core i9-10900K over its 9900K predecessor, we should expect a healthy improvement in overall performance, though it still may not be enough against AMD"s Ryzen 9 3950X in heavily threaded applications.
The availability of these chips will be intriguing to follow amidst this COVID-19 pandemic since various distribution channels worldwide are surely affected.
