Intel has released the latest version of its DCH graphics driver for Windows 10 PCs, bringing the version number up to 27.20.100.8280. This is a big step up from the previous 27.20.100.8190, and the only major news is improved support for some games.
The new driver adds official support for Minecraft Dungeons, The Elder Scrolls Online - Greymoor, Shadow Arena, Maneater, and Halo 2: Anniversary - which, by the way, we have reviewed on Neowin - on Intel Iris Plus Graphics GPUs and better. Additionally, Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, Valorant, and Disintegration are now officially supported on the lower-power Intel UHD Graphics and better.
To go along with official support, Intel has delivered performance improvements for Minecraft Dungeons, as well as Darksiders Genesis and Warcraft III: Reforged, on Intel"s 10th-generation processors with Iris Plus Graphics.
There are also some fixes for the Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer experience on these processors, in addition to handful of fixes:
- Intermittent hang may be seen when playing Halo 2: Anniversary* Multiplayer, Star Control: Origins* on 10th Generation Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Plus graphics.
- Intermittent crashes may be seen in BeamNG.drive*, Bright Memory* (DX12), Doom Eternal* (Vulkan) on 6th Generation Intel Core processors and higher.
- Screen may flicker for 1 to 3 seconds when resizing the Netflix video playback in Microsoft Edge browser on 10th Generation Intel Core processors with Intel UHD graphics.
Even with those fixes, there"s a number of known issues to look out for in this release, including issues with a handful of games such as Metro Exodus and Red Dead Redemption 2:
- Metro Exodus* (DX12) may fail to launch on 7th Generation Intel Core processors or higher.
- Intermittent crashes may be seen in Tom Clancy"s Ghost Recon Breakpoint* (Vulkan), Red Dead Redemption 2* (Vulkan) on 10th Generation Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Plus graphics.
- Intermittent crashes may be seen in Shadow of the Tomb Raider* (DX12), The Surge 2* (Vulkan) on 7th Generation Intel Core processors or higher.
- Crash may be seen while launching Sony Catalyst Production Suite on 10th Generation Intel Core processors.
- Minor graphics anomalies may be observed in Tom Clancy"s Rainbow Six Siege* (Vulkan), Battlefield V* (DX12).
- One Piece Pirate Warriors 4* may fail to launch on 10th Generation Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Plus graphics.
In terms of compatibility, the latest driver is compatible with most of the hardware previous versions have been compatible with, from sixth-generation Intel Core processors up to the current tenth generation, plus some related Intel Pentium, Celeron, and Xeon processors. In terms of software, it supports Windows 10 version 1709 onwards.
You can download the latest version of Intel"s driver here, and it"s available in both .zip and .exe formats as usual, and you can find the full release notes here. If you opt for the more conventional .exe installer, it maybe worth noting the new installer won"t mention the Intel Audio Driver separately, even though it"s still being installed.
