Intel graphics driver version 27.20.100.9316 fixes Iris Xe/Xe Max game launch crashes

Intel released the 27.20.100.9316 DCH graphics driver today, and it comes with a developer highlight with support for the New Level Zero loader layer tracing API.

Other highlights for this driver include a fix for crash seen when launching Outriders on Intel Iris Xe Max graphics, game loading time improvements for Death Stranding on Intel Iris Xe and stability fixes have arrived for the DaVinci Resolve video editing software on Intel Iris Xe Max graphics.

Here is the full list of fixes included in this release, which has good news for Intel graphics users who are still experiencing intermittent crashes when launching Cyberpunk 2077 and other titles:

  • Crash seen when launching Outriders* on Intel® Iris® Xe Max graphics.
  • Performance bottleneck fix for 3DMark Mesh Shader feature test* (Mesh Shaders off) on Intel® Iris® Xe and Xe Max graphics.
  • Stability fixes for DaVinci Resolve* on Intel® Iris® Xe Max graphics.
  • Intermittent crash or hang seen in Tom Clancy"s Rainbow Six Siege* (DX11), Cyberpunk 2077* (DX12) when starting gameplay on Intel® Iris® Xe and Xe Max graphics.
  • Intermittent crash or hang seen in Battlefield 4* when changing Anti-aliasing deferred settings on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Intermittent crash or hang seen in Hunt: Showdown*, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare* (DX12).
  • Black screen observed in Dirt Rally* when game play is switched to full screen using ALT + ENTER on Intel® cIris® Xe graphics.
  • Minor graphic anomalies observed in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare* (DX12) while game loading in cutscenes and during gameplay on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Minor graphic anomalies observed during gameplay in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt* on Intel® Iris® Xe and Xe Max graphics.
  • Corruption or crash seen in Talos Principle* (Vulkan) after changing game settings on Intel® Iris® Xe Max graphics.
  • Crash seen while starting new game in Crysis: Remastered* on 10th Generation Intel® Core™ processors with Intel Iris Plus graphics.
  • No Visual difference seen when changing Texture filtering in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands* (DX12).
  • Teamfight Tactics* game may disconnect when starting gameplay on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • LCD may show garbage during WMV movie playback with high CPU usage on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Brightness may not update as expected while adjusting brightness in Battery mode on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Flickering may be observed in PC screen mode only on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • System may not show output when connected through dock with multiple monitors on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Black screen observed after unplugging dock with three monitors in combined mode.

This release also adds a developer highlight with the following change:

  • Support for New Level Zero loader layer tracing API.

Crashes haven"t been fixed entirely, however, as seen in the known issues list of this driver release:

  • Intermittent crash or hang may be seen in Dark Souls III*, Dirt 5* (DX12) on Intel® Iris® Xe and Xe Max graphics.
  • Intermittent crash or hang may be seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War* (DX12), Watch Dogs: Legion* (DX12) when starting new campaign, Total War Warhammer 2 (DX12) when loading campaign mode / benchmark on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Intermittent crash or hang may be seen in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint* (DX11), Metro Exodus* (DX12) when changing graphics settings, Destiny 2* (with anti-cheat enabled).
  • Minor graphic anomalies may be observed in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla* (DX12), Baldur’s Gate 3 (Vulkan), Forza Horizon 4* (DX12), Hitman 2* (DX12), Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint* (DX11), Watch Dogs: Legion* (DX12), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice* on Intel® Iris® Xe and Xe Max graphics.
  • Minor graphic anomalies may be observed in Cyberpunk 2077* (DX12), Far Cry: New Dawn* when starting from a saved file, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries* (DX12), Gears of War Ultimate Edition* (DX12), Wolfenstein: Youngblood* (Vulkan), 3D Mark Time Spy Extreme benchmark (DX12) on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Minor graphic anomalies may be observed in Code Vein*, Death Stranding* (DX12), Madden NFL 21* (DX12) on Intel® Iris® Xe Max graphics.
  • Lag may be observed while playing a 4K/2K/ Full HD video in 8K60 Tiled mode with application window maximized on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • With Adaptive Sync Enabled, DX9 games (DOTA 2 and Counter Strike: GO) may hang after monitor unplug or setting "PC screen only" on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Flicker may be observed on internal panel when resizing any 4K video window on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
  • Display blank out seen on external display while switching from single display HDMI 2.0 to Clone or extend mode on Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.
