Back in May, Intel announced its Core X-series processor family, which "introduces a series of firsts that reflect the extreme performance we are delivering", as stated by the company back then. The announcement included Intel"s first consumer desktop CPU with 18 cores and 36 threads, but the full specs for some of the processors weren"t revealed at the time. It has changed today with Intel"s announcement of the full specs sheet for the whole Core X-series processor family.
Another improvement to some of the new Core X-series processors will be the new Turbo Boost Max 3.0 clock speeds, as can be seen above. Furthermore, according to Intel, the new version "will now identify the two top performing cores and direct critical workloads to those cores for a big jump in single- or multithreaded performance."
Also, Intel has announced that the 12-core processor will be available starting on August 28 and the 14- to 18-core processors will be available starting September 25. The 4- to 10-core processors are already available for purchase and you can order yours from Amazon right here.
Further information about the new family of processors can be found in this product overview and this fact sheet, both in PDF format provided by Intel.
