Intel has been showing off a new desktop dock concept which would allow devices based on their newly announced Core M processors to perform faster when connected to it.
According to the report, the new Intel design could possibly boost performance by up to 30 percent, thanks to additional airflow being pushed through to the devices when they are connected to the dock. Though, whether any company’s produce a design based on this kind of docking system remains to be seen.
The dock was said to produce very little noise when it was seen running at Computex earlier this week, which is likely to mean that only a small amount of extra air was being pushed to the device when it was plugged in. It will be interesting to see how much noise comes from the dock in real-world use rather than just a demonstration.
Intel announced their new 14nm Core M processors earlier this week, stating that they expect them to offer around 20 to 40 percent improvement in performance over previous generations. The processor is also set to consume far less power than ever before and up to 60 percent less heat with the company claiming that they are “"the most energy-efficient Intel Core processor in the company"s history”.
As the Core M is set to be 50 percent smaller than before, it is the perfect processor to be used in tablet and ultra-slim PC designs. The new processors are due to ship later this month.
