"First off, while a lot is new with the Pentium4, a lot has not changed. The new P4s are packaged different but don"t confuse the change in packaging with a change in the CPU"s core itself. The core is still built with that .18 micron goodness with a whopping 42 million transistors packed into a space of 217 mm^2. Don"t be confused that because of the Socket 478 (S478) layout that the core has changed, because it has not. We will see "Northwood" cores possibly later this year or Q1 "02, but right now these are still the "Willamette" variety."
