As promised, Microsoft has released the "Preview Version" of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. This version of Microsoft"s home grown web browser first made its debut with the launch of Windows 8 and Windows RT in late October. Microsoft posted up a landing page with URLs for downloads of IE9 and IE10 for Windows 7 but the actual download link did not go live until later in the day.
The version of IE 10 released for Windows 8 has already proved to be a solid performance, based on what a third party study showed earlier this month. It claimed that IE 10 was the fastest web browser on Windows-based PCs. Hopefully that speed increase will translate into the Windows 7 version of the browser.
Microsoft has been battling with Google, and its Chrome web browser, for the past few years, and Chrome has gained a ton of market share in the Windows browser space, with some research claiming that Chrome is in fact the world"s most popular PC web browser. Mozila"s Firefox is also still in the hunt but is trailing IE and Chrome in third place, with Apple"s Safari and the Opera browser well behind.
