The billionaire inventor Elon Musk has denied that he is the elusive Bitcoin maker, Satoshi Nakamoto. In admitting to not creating the cryptocurrency he also confirmed his lack of involvement with the digital money. The denial came after a blog post on Medium claimed: “Elon Musk probably invented Bitcoin”.
In response to the blog post that proposed Elon was the creator of Bitcoin, Musk said:
Not true. A friend sent me part of a BTC a few years, but I don’t know where it is.

In his hopeful Medium post, Sahil Gupta gave reasons why Satoshi Nakamoto could be Elon Musk, and if the identity fit, how he could offer guidance on the development of Bitcoin in a similar fashion to how Vitalik Buterin influences Ethereum. He suggested that Musk could fix Bitcoin’s slow verification and throughput times by coordinating changes in the block size and the lightning network.
At this point, almost nine years on from its inception, it’s becoming more and more unlikely that we will ever find out the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto despite several people coming forward to claim the identity and subsequently being rebuked.
