Last month, reports emerged that Apple would be bringing a dark mode to iOS, just as it did for its laptops last year with macOS Mojave. With about one week to go until the company"s WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC), 9to5Mac has obtained screenshots that show off what that dark mode will look like, as well as other changes in iOS 13.
In regards to dark mode, the bigger changes will be seen in individual apps, as the home screen seems to mostly remain the same. The dock at the bottom gets a dark translucent background, rather than a white one, but that seems to be it. It could also be that new wallpapers will be added to match the dark theme better. Within apps, it seems like Apple has gone for true black backgrounds, which makes sense for the OLED panels in the top-tier iPhone models.
Other aspects that have been redesigned include the screenshot annotation tool, which now uses the user"s background instead of a gray one and offers easier access to the markup tools. On iPad devices, the tray that contains those tools can also be dragged around on the screen.
The Reminders app is also getting redesigned with new sections for Today, Scheduled, Flagged, and All, as well as a search bar and user-created lists of reminders. Apple is also unifying Find My iPhone and Find My Friends into a new app called Find My, which is also getting some iPad-specific improvements, with a big new map taking up the entire screen.
Apple should officially unveil these changes at its WWDC keynote next Monday, along with updates to macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. The inclusion of dark mode seems to be a trend recently, with Google also adding it in the upcoming release of Android Q.
