This week, 9to5Mac has been publishing a string of reports, pretty much leaking most of what Apple has to announce at WWDC in terms of software, and it"s only Tuesday. Yesterday, we learned a lot about new watchOS 7 features, and today, we found out that there"s going to be an all apps list in iOS 14. But also found in the code of the new version of the mobile OS are details about new hardware.
The report doesn"t have any actual surprises, showing products that we were expecting for the spring. That includes a new iPad Pro, the rumored iPhone 9, and a possible new Apple TV.
As was previously reported, the new iPad Pro models will include a triple-lens camera. Alongside a wide-angle, ultra-wide, and telephoto lens like we have on the iPhone 11 Pro, there"s also a time-of-flight sensor. Presumably, that"s used for augmented reality applications.
The iPhone 9 is meant to be an iPhone 8 with upgraded internals, and it will support Touch ID and Express Transit. There"s going to be a push on iPhone 6 users to upgrade, since Express Transit isn"t supported on the device. It"s also worth noting, of course, that the latest Apple Watch and various other features don"t work with the iPhone 6, since the handset didn"t get iOS 13.
Finally and perhaps most interestingly, there"s going to be a new Apple TV remote. Anything beyond that is unknown, but the current Apple TV remote has been somewhat controversial with its touchpad and swipe gestures, instead of standard button-based navigation.
Recent rumors suggest that Apple won"t actually be holding a spring hardware event like we had originally thought, thanks to the fears around the COVID-19 coronavirus. The products should still arrive at some point though.
