iPhone and iPad users have been waiting for this day for a while and it"s finally here. As part of their many announcements today, including the new iPad and the new Apple TV, Apple revealed that its iPhoto editing software has now been released for iOS devices. This version of iPhoto has been created with touch screen interfaces in mind along with support for the Retina display on the iPhone 4 and the new iPad.
In terms of editing, Apple has this to say of iPhoto for iOS:
Simple gestures can be used to select and compare photos side by side and flag your best shots. iPhoto gives you full control over color, exposure and contrast, and you simply touch the parts of the image you want to change. You can enhance pictures by adding beautiful Apple-designed effects with just a tap, or apply adjustments exactly where you want them with fingertip brushes.
iPhoto also has some interesting features such as beaming photos between an iPhone and an iPad and being able to stream photos to be shown on a TV via Apple TV and Airplay. It"s available now via the App Store for $4.99
In related news, Apple has launched new versions of iMovie and Garage Band for iOS. iMovie 1.3 has a new Theater mode that lets its users choose from nine templates with themes like Fairy Tale, Superhero and Romance. The 1.2 version of Garage Band has a Jam Session feature which allows users to wireless link up with up to three buddies to play music together. Both the new versions of iMovie and Garage Band are priced at $4.99 each for new users; previous owners can get the updates for free.
