Is Ghostbusters coming to the PSP?

Earlier this week a filing was spotted on the ESRB rating website for the upcoming Atari game, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, on Sony"s Playstation Portable console.

However, an Atari spokesperson told EuroGamer today that a PSP version was not in development for the system and the listing has since been removed from the ESRB website.

Ghostbusters: The Video game is set to release this June in North America and Europe for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Wii, DS and PC. Executive producer Brendan Goss spoke with EuroGamer last April, saying the game could make it to the PSP sometime in the future:

"There are discussions right now about a PSP version. We"re waiting to see how the PS2 stuff goes from a technical side with memory, then it may get ported to the PSP."

It"s quite possible Sony wanted to keep the announcement quiet closer to E3 and Atari jumped the gun. Sony have gone on record this week to say they have a lot of unannounced titles coming to the PSP, between 50 and 60 percent of this year"s games in total.

The game itself takes place in 1991, two years after the last movie, Ghostbusters II. The player takes the role of a new recruit to the Ghostbuster team, hired to test the new equipment Egon created to help take on the recent rise in paranormal activity.

After a troubled few years of development, the game is set to release on the 25th anniversary of the first film, with three studios working on the title. Terminal Reality developed the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version of the game, Red Fly Studio worked on the PS2 and Wii versions while the DS version was developed by Zen Studios. Atari will be publishing each release.
