Microsoft changes stance on used game policy and Internet connection requirements for Xbox One

A rumor is making its way across the web today at a feverish pace that Microsoft preparing to announce that it will be scaling back the DRM on the Xbox One.

The rumor originated over at whathifi.com and a thread on NeoGaf has word from a supposed insider, claiming that they received a call from Microsoft PR confirming the information.

Unlike most rumors, we shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out if the information is true as the post states that Microsoft will be announcing the change later today with a post from Don Mattrick.

While the changes have not been detailed, if true, it would seem clear that Microsoft heard the angry feedback from gamers and took action to potentially rectify the issue.

Update: It looks like something will be announced very soon as the link to the "update" is not currently live yet.

It is not currently known what the changes will be but a post should be going up shortly and we will update this post as soon as we know what changes Microsoft has made to the policies. At this time, the Xbox Wire website is getting hammered and takes considerable time to load.

In addition to these changes, there is some bad news; you can no longer share your digital games with friends on your friends list. But, Microsoft is removing the region restrictions on all games.
