The BBC isn"t the only UK broadcaster sharing the love with Windows Phone users today. While the Beeb rolled out a major update to its iPlayer app earlier, ITV launched its media player on the platform today too.
ITV Player is a new addition to Windows Phone, but while it may be late to the party, it"s certainly arrived in style. A slick start-up animation, which is displayed while the app is loading content, opens up into a view of recommended shows, and viewers can swipe across the screen to view the "most watched" programmes, as well as a channel menu.
On the channel views, there are two panoramas; swipe across the top coloured row to switch channels; and swipe across the bottom to switch days, to browse content from the last 30 days of ITV shows.
In addition to catch-up, viewers can also watch live TV on ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV. Mums and dads will be pleased to know that the app supports parental controls to ensure that their little monsters don"t watch anything too naughty.
Do bear in mind, however, that you will need a TV licence to watch live TV in the UK, even on your phone.
