According to Japanese magazine Dorimaga, the classic Sega fighter, Virtua Fighter 2, will be the latest release in the Sega Ages 2500 series and will be available for the PlayStation 2 in Japan on October 14, 2004. The game, which is being developed by Sega-AM2 (the same studio responsible for the classic original), will contain arcade quality graphics and sound and will retail for 2,500 yen, or about $22.
Additionally, the Sega Ages 2500 version of Virtua Fighter 2 will contain two playable modes that will allow gamers to select from the original edition (1994) and the updated edition of the game, which is known as Virtua Fighter 2.1 and was released in 1995. No official word from Sega yet as to whether or not the company plans on re-releasing Virtua Fighter 2, in any variation, here in the states.
