Jet Set Radio Future isn"t simply an Xbox port of the Dreamcast"s under appreciated Jet Grind Radio (which was called Jet Set Radio in Japan); it"s a full-blown sequel with improvements across the board and attitude to spare. Once again the action picks up in a futuristic and cell-shaded version of Tokyo in the year 2024 and spotlights a juvenile rollerblading gang who are as athletic with the jumps, grinds, and tricks, as they are quick on the draw with the spray paint. Jet Set is a game that"s a couple of parts Dance Dance Revolution mixed with a splash of Tony Hawk and a dash of misunderstood creative artist. Oh, it also has one hell of a soundtrack.
Jet Set Radio Future is a welcome return trip for fans of the first game, but a quirky, odd and refreshing ride for new players. Quirky and odd are all too rare these days, despite the proliferation of consoles and technology. Hey, Sega"s console days may be finished, but thank god they"re still plugging away in the game department
