Juicero is a connected cold-press juicing machine that accepts specially created packages of vegetable and fruit mixes to create organic juice at the touch of a button. While this sounds like a great product to get folks to drink healthy while at home, the product was met with a bit of pushback since it initially debuted at a price of $700. Since that time, the price has been greatly reduced, but it seems that you might not need the machine at all to produce enough pressure to juice its custom prepared packs.
According to a report released earlier by Bloomberg, the Juicero packs can be squeezed by hand, yielding 7.5 ounces out of the 8 ounces in the bag. While there are probably subtle differences when juicing the bag by hand, as a loose gist of things, it means that the now $400 machine isn"t really necessary.
You can imagine that this revelation has left some scratching their heads, including Juicero"s investors. In a response released today, the CEO of Juicero defended the product and also offered those with a machine a 30-day window to get a refund.
